Rihanna Re-purposes an Iconic Y2K Top for a New Generation

Rihanna Re-purposes an Iconic Y2K Top for a New Generation

The 2000's saw the much-loved tube top become a signature style. This trend had originally gained popularity in the 90's, with the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker setting an example. From there, colourful and patterned tube tops became a staple of Y2K fashion, often matched with jeans and strappy heels. Style icons such as Rihanna have recently embraced this trend once more - we look forward to seeing it continue!

In a bold fashion move, Rihanna stepped out in City of Light wearing an ensemble from J.W. Anderson's fall 2023 runway. The tube top featured a fuzzy brown hue and a kangaroo pouch pocket, which accentuated her baby bump, a signature move! She paired the piece with streamlined blue trousers, featuring frayed hemlines also from J.W. Anderson, alongside a faux fur coat, nude stilettos and golden jewellery. To add to the look, she accessorised with a monogrammed Louis Vuitton bag that was reminiscent of the 2000's trend for big logos.

When deciding what new fashion pieces to invest in, it is important to remember to choose items that will remain relevant for decades. As an example, if you are choosing a tube top as part of your wardrobe, one could look to Rihanna's trend-setting style for inspiration as she often accentuates her outfits with timeless pieces.
